Patient Services
The more you know about dentistry, the more likely you are to take better care of your teeth and gums. Our philosophy is to do everything possible to help you keep your teeth for the rest of your life---a goal that with home maintenance and a little help from us---is possible. We provide a wide range of services to aid you in developing and maintaining a healthy attractive smile.
Because our dental practice is more than 50 miles away from the nearest dental specialist, we take pride in providing all services to you--including root canals, implants and orthodontics. Patients love the convenience of having one dentist able to do it all.
Early detection is the key to avoiding costly and painful dental treatments. Prevention begins with the control of plaque and calculus, the main cause of decay and periodontal disease. In fact, the major cause of tooth loss in adults is periodontal disease, which is known as the silent killer of teeth because most patients feel no symptoms until it is too late. With regular dental visits, we can treat gum disease at an early stage, before it gets out of hand.

Arestin™ is a prescription drug approved
by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of gum disease
after a deep
cleaning procedure known as scaling and root planing. Arestin
uses unique microsphere technology to deliver the anitbiotic directly
to the infected areas in your gums. The microspheres then gradually
release the antibiotic, allowing it to work for at least 14 days
so that it can kill the infection more effectively and help heal
your gums.
Periostat has been shown to help stop the progressionof periodontitis when used as an adjunct to scaling and root planing
in aconscientiously
applied program of oral hygiene and regular professional care--American
Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs. Periostat helps
suppress the body's overproduction of gum- and tissue-destroying
enzymes. It reduces the activity of the enzymes
that destroy tooth
and gum tissue, and is only available by prescription from your
dentist.
We believe it is important to keep up with the latest developments and equipment in dentistry. They help us provide dental procedures faster and with less pain. For example, we use the traditional x-ray machine along with new digital radiography to compliment your diagnosis and cut down on your radiation exposure.
- Air Abrasion – A relatively new filling preparation technique used for mild cases of decay. This procedure gently removes decay, prepares teeth for fillings, and can aid in preparing teeth for other minor procedures as well. Air abrasion is quiet, quick, relatively painless, and avoids sacrificing tooth structure.
DIAGNOdent - A revolutionary, thorough means of detecting cavities,
so your exam can be fast, easy, andnearly imperceptible. Using DIAGNOdent
technology allows us to catch more areas of decay sooner and with
more precision. Further, it requires no x-rays and is a relatively
comfortable
procedure. Not only can it help prevent the spread of decay, but
catching decay early means fillings required are simpler and shallower,
preserving
more of the tooth. This allows us to use minimally invasive filling
procedures, such as drill-free air abrasion. Finally, we're able to
objectively monitor
any suspicious areas without repeated x-rays, harm to tissues, or
need for protective measures.- Digital Radiography - We protect patients from any possible harmful effects from radiation. That is why we use digital radiography, which decreases radiation by more than 90% compared to conventional dental x-ray machines.
Intra-Oral Camera – These cameras help us see what is going
on inside your mouth in a new way. We can also show you what is happening
because the camera magnifies areas in your mouth more than 25 times.
The camera-tipped wand, covered with a disposable plastic sheath
to prevent
contamination, records video of your mouth before transmitting the
images to a TV monitor. You get to see every last detail of the inside
of your
mouth.- Conscious Oral Sedation - To maximize comfort, we offer you this service. You will swallow a couple of sedation pills 45 minutes prior to our visit together. The majority of our sedation patients lightly doze during the procedure, and often have only little or even no memory of the visit. Conscious sedation is beneficial for those who need lots of work completed and do not want the anxiety. Click here to learn more.
